The theme of the 13th annual family picnic was a celebration of our Core Values. This year’s Family picnic went wonderfully and was without a dull moment. This typically happens when a celebration of this type reaches   400 + people. It was especially good to see all of the Scandrill family enjoying the food, fun and the company fellowship under the same roof together.  One of the main standouts, among others, was that Elvis was in the building this year. One of his hit songs that he sang was Jailhouse Rock. Much to everyone’s surprise, Elvis’ jailbirds joined in and danced in orange jailhouse FRC coveralls. Many thanks and a new admiration goes out to the Scan Management Team for sharing their dancing skills with the rest of us. But don’t worry these guys went from Jailhouse Rock to Freebird by the end of the day.

For the rest of our event many great door prizes were raffled out. We appreciate the attendance of many of our vendors and their door price contributions. We consider them all part of the larger Scandrill family.  Again this year we had plenty of activities for the kids, such as:  pony rides, a rock climbing wall, bouncy house, snow cones and airbrush tattooing. And, of course, a picnic can’t be a picnic without food. There was plenty of good barbecue to go around for everyone in attendance. The main food item that caught everyone’s attention as well as their taste buds was the Scandrill cake that was made into a derrick. This was provided by our very own Tommy Weatherall’s wife, Mary Weatherall.

From the beginning to the end the 2011 Scandrill Family Picnic was very entertaining and was well put together. Many thanks go out to everyone involved, especially all of the family members of our employees that were present. We hope that you and your kids, big and small, had a wonderful and positive experience this year. We hope to see you there again in 2012.

The highlight of the picnic is as always the recognition of the longevity award.  This year we had 4 reach, 15, year, 6 reach 10 years and 21 reach 5 years.  The roughneck Olympics is another favorite.  This year the Management and Rig Manager team won the tug of war against the Drillers and Crew.  Sean Wilcox won the 24” pipe wrench throw with a distance of 76' 4".  290, a new record was eligible for the 10x$2000 No OSHA recordable drawing.
