The Scan Endeavor Christening/dedication ceremony was held in the Scandrill, Inc., Tyler yard on Monday, October 31, 2011. The weather was near perfect and the attendance was great. We had BBQ catered in and we had around 180 guests in attendance. We had many Customers from past, present and hopefully future attend the event to see the Scan Endeavor being added to our family of rigs. Many vendors were also present that are key stakeholders in the design and construction of the rig. Of course it is always nice to have our Houston, Tyler and Rig Management with crews come together to celebrate and recognize our achievements as a TEAM.
After lunch the group then dispersed for the rig showing and the ceremony began once everyone made it to the floor. As always Martin Mosvold did a grand job in welcoming everyone to the rig floor and introduced a very timely tradition of Scandrill, the reciting of our Pledge of Allegiance (Sam Hardin, Marketing) followed by the singing of our National Anthem (Luke King, HR) and a prayer (Neil Pierce, Drilling Superintendent) for the safety of the crews. Marty DuBroc (President) addressed the group on the rig floor and quickly turned attention to the Rig Managers and crews of the Scan Endeavor. He charges both Rig Managers, David Blankinship and Justin Williams, by highlighting their roles, responsibilities and expectations in ensuring the protection of the Scan Endeavor and its crews. They gladly accepted this charge as the leadership of the rig. Once this was done, Mrs., Diana DuBroc offered kind words to the group and was presented the champagne bottle which she broke against the dog house wall and christened the rig “Scan Endeavor”. Mrs. DuBroc was then presented with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a gift by Mrs. Mosvold. Everyone was thanked for their attendance and wished a safe journey home by Paul Mosvold (Vice President – HSE/HR).
The Scan Endeavor is a 1500 HP SCR Box Rocket rig that is capable of walking up to 85’ while leaving the backyard in place. The rig boasts a 500 ton Varco top drive and 10,000# BOP equipment. We are very excited to be adding this type of rig to our current fleet making our total comprised of 19 rigs ranging from 1000 HP to 1500 HP. The Scan Endeavor started moving out of the Tyler yard on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 and will be working for Anadarko Petroleum in Panola County, Texas, drilling horizontal Cotton Valley and Haynesville Shale wells.
