A prayer was held followed by the smashing of a champagne bottle on the rig. The company’s President, Paul M. Mosvold, explains the tradition: “We have a history, from a shipping background, and its customary that you always christen the ship. It’s a way of wishing the ship and crew a prosperous voyage.”
